Hey. My name is Azrael. I’m just a human being on a journey through life. What I’ve learned so far is that truth is layered, nuanced, and paradoxical. Storytelling helps me to make sense of my own madness and the absurdity of the upside-down world we live in. The blank page is my mirror, and my stories are my truest expressions.
I grew up in Hawai’i writing X-Men fanfic with crayons. Now I’m a published novelist and member of the Author’s Guild, an award-winning documentary producer, with a TV pilot that has placed in multiple competitions. I hold a degree in Creative Writing and am working on another in American Literature.
I’m transmasculine, of Filipino and Puerto Rican descent, and an active member of a Taíno community. I’m also drawn to depth psychology, particularly the Jungian tradition, which feeds my writing and understanding of mythology and what it does to us.
These days I live and work in Athens, Greece, with my wife and our dog.
Thanks for your interest in my work.
